Charoen Thani is a large, established hotel on Srichan Road whose central location and covered parking can be more persuasive than its age. Recent guests describe a mixture of older finishes and selected updates. For a temple-focused stay, the room’s bathroom arrangement and the condition you are willing to accept matter as much as the choice between a standard room and a suite.

01

The category change buys measurable space

Agoda lists a 28-square-metre Deluxe, a 42-square-metre Corner and a 54-square-metre Junior Suite. The Corner is shown with double or twin bedding, while the named Junior Suite has a king bed. These distinctions give a clearer reason to upgrade than assuming that every higher category must be newly refurbished.

The hotel’s own accommodation page confirms Superior, Deluxe, Corner and suite options, together with a desk, air-conditioning, minibar and safe. It describes 320 rooms. The larger inventory helps explain the full-service city-hotel character, but it does not establish that every floor or bathroom has been updated to the same condition.

02

Older rooms can still work, with a bathroom caveat

A May 2026 Superior-room guest described a mixture of older and renewed elements, including changes to flooring and electrical outlets. That guest liked the cooling and water temperature but reported showering inside the bathtub. Someone who finds a bath edge difficult should treat that as a category-specific question to resolve, rather than infer a walk-in shower from a large room photograph.

The same account was favourable overall. It is useful precisely because it did not equate the hotel’s age with a wholly poor stay. An August 2026 Booking.com account displayed through Agoda also praised staff and location while criticising worn rugs. The two observations point towards uneven presentation rather than a reliable promise of a uniformly renovated room.

03

Parking and facilities are part of the appeal

The May guest particularly valued indoor parking. A July 2026 Superior-room visitor separately described a spacious parking building connected conveniently with the hotel. For a traveller driving to Phra That Kham Kaen, that practical arrival arrangement may carry more weight than a fashionable lobby.

The hotel advertises a swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and fitness facilities. Those are property descriptions, not a guarantee that every facility is available at every hour. A January 2026 Booking.com guest found the pool and corridors in need of more attention, while praising the staff. Read the facilities as useful options with condition varying between individual accounts.

04

Breakfast and sound deserve separate consideration

The July Superior-room guest enjoyed breakfast and attentive service, but also said the room did not block sound well. That combination is more informative than a simple positive score: a lively central base and a quiet sleeping environment are different requirements.

An October 2026 Superior-room account praised the scale of the lobby, staff presence, upper-floor outlook and breakfast choice. Those are observations from one stay, not proof that every room enjoys an identical view. A traveller prioritising sleep should give the earlier sound report its own weight even when the service and location appeal.

05

A Khon Kaen base for two different temple journeys

Srichan Road places the stay within the city, with meals and services forming part of its appeal. Wat Nong Wang is a separate city visit around Bueng Kaen Nakhon; Phra That Kham Kaen requires an outward road excursion. Neither is presented as an entrance directly attached to this hotel.

Charoen Thani is a reasonable shortlist choice for someone who wants room space, staff support and covered parking, and can accept an older hotel with mixed finish reports. The Corner and Junior Suite offer genuine area increases. The decision should turn on that space and the actual bathroom arrangement, rather than assuming the most expensive room automatically removes every maintenance or noise concern.
