The listed space is a genuine point of difference
Agoda lists Standard Double or Twin and Superior Double or Twin at 33 square metres. Both use a city-view description, with a double or two single beds. The Deluxe Double is listed at 75 square metres with a king bed. That is a substantial difference in floor area rather than merely a change in bedding.
For two people sharing luggage, the ordinary 33-square-metre categories already offer a different proposition from a compact city room. The much larger Deluxe description may interest someone who wants additional indoor space. However, area is not a measure of maintenance, and the larger category should not be mistaken for a promise of a newer finish.
A recent positive account sits beside a detailed earlier complaint
An October 2026 Agoda Superior guest found the room very clean, the staff friendly and breakfast good. This is useful recent context. It should not be discarded merely because the property has older negative reviews.
An August 2025 Suite guest had a much worse stay, describing insects and dirt in the first room, followed by a move to another large room. The guest still found the second room's finishes and shower unsatisfactory. The positive aspect they acknowledged was space. Their account concerned a Suite, so it should not be silently assigned to every Standard or Deluxe room.
The history of room reports deserves a measured reading
Several 2023 guests also reported older accommodation, with one noting an uncomfortable mattress and another describing a poor cleaning handover. These older accounts add context to the later complaint, but they are not evidence that every current room is in the same condition.
The October 2026 positive report is a counterpoint rather than proof that all previous problems have been resolved. A traveller who particularly values a refreshed bathroom or consistent housekeeping should give the dated detail more attention than the overall score or the unusually generous listed room area.
The city location supports a Choeng Chum outing
The address is 383/14 Moo 13 on I.T.U. Road in Sakon Nakhon. Trip.com's current property description also places the hotel in the city and identifies Choeng Chum and Nong Han as local destinations. This supports its role in a Sakon Nakhon stay without establishing a guaranteed walking time to the temple.
The same listing describes parking, a restaurant and meeting facilities. Those are hotel features, not an included sightseeing programme. A visitor choosing the room for an early temple outing should plan the access separately from the convenience of having an on-site dining option.
A large room with a more complicated quality story
Sakol Grand Palace is most relevant when space is an important part of the comparison and the traveller is comfortable weighing the mixed room evidence. A 33-square-metre Twin can be useful for two companions, while the 75-square-metre Deluxe is a very different indoor-space choice.
The limitation is the gap between those room specifications and the uneven individual reports about finishes, cleanliness and bathrooms. Consider the particular category and the current room condition together. Neither the hotel's name nor the floor-area figure can resolve that trade-off on its own.
