Centara Udon makes most sense as a central-city hotel beside the shopping mall, rather than as a quiet retreat near Wat Pa Phu Kon. The room range is more useful than the older convention-centre name suggests: Superior and Deluxe categories share a 32-square-metre footprint, while Premier rooms and suites offer actual increases in space. Recent guests generally value the location, with more qualified views of the older bathrooms and pool.

01

An upgrade does not always buy more floor space

Centara’s official accommodation pages give both Superior and Deluxe rooms as 32 square metres, with king or twin configurations. Its published descriptions distinguish city and garden outlooks, while Agoda also labels some Deluxe offers with a city view. The booked room description therefore matters more than assuming that the word Deluxe guarantees either a larger room or a particular outlook.

The official Premier category is 42 square metres. The One Bedroom Suite is 72 square metres with a separate living room, and the top-floor Executive Suite is 128 square metres. A couple who simply needs two separate beds may find the ordinary Twin choice sufficient; someone wanting a distinct sitting room has a more concrete reason to consider a suite.

The official pages contain differing headline and narrative occupancy figures. Do not use a favourable maximum from one panel to assume that an extra person, an extra bed and breakfast for everyone are all included. The room-and-party configuration needs to be explicit for a family booking.

02

The mall-side location is the principal convenience

The hotel’s address is on Prajaksillapakhom Road in central Udon Thani. A May 2026 Deluxe Twin guest described being able to shop at the mall in the evening without driving out again. A January 2026 Superior Twin guest similarly appreciated the shopping and transport-terminal area.

That convenience is about a city stay. It can make a multi-day Udon Thani chapter easier, with shopping or a meal after an outing, but it does not shorten the separate journey to the forest temple. Wat Pa Phu Kon remains in Na Yung district, and the temple’s own approach information gives the journey from town a very different scale from a neighbourhood transfer.

03

Clean rooms and an older building can coexist

An October 2026 published Agoda account described a room as clean and maintained despite the building’s age. On Trip.com, a September 2026 Superior Twin guest liked the cleaning and location while finding the bathroom and sauna dated. Those observations support a more precise expectation than calling the entire property either newly renovated or worn out.

The distinction is important if your decision depends on modern bathroom finishes rather than a central address. A comfortable bed and a well-cleaned room do not automatically mean every fitting has been replaced. The available accounts concern particular stays and categories, so they should not be used to declare one whole floor better than another.

04

Breakfast earns praise; the pool divides expectations

The May 2026 guest liked the breakfast choice and staff, and the January visitor mentioned Thai coffee and tea in a spacious breakfast venue. These are useful reports for someone who wants a straightforward morning meal before a long outing, without promising a fixed menu or inclusion in every room rate.

Pool comments are less enthusiastic. The January 2026 guest found it small and chose not to use it. A May 2026 Superior Twin visitor also raised concerns about the immediate pool surroundings. A pool on the facilities list is therefore not the strongest reason to choose Centara over another city hotel.

05

A city base with a separate temple day

Centara suits a traveller who wants a recognisable central location, a documented range of room sizes and the option of leaving the car parked for part of an evening. The strongest upgrade case is actual additional space or a separate living room, not simply a higher category label.

For Wat Pa Phu Kon, arrange the outward and return vehicle as a dedicated excursion. Use the hotel for the city portion of the trip, and the temple’s hall hours for the visiting plan. That separation keeps a convenient urban stay from being mistaken for accommodation close to the hilltop shrine.
