A traditional hotel with recognisable room choices
Agoda lists Superior Twin rooms at 24 square metres with two single beds, and a Junior Suite at 48 square metres. A Deluxe Double entry is also 24 square metres with a queen bed, while other Deluxe entries use 29 square metres. Compare the named offer and its bedding instead of treating Deluxe as one completely uniform room.
The suite offers a clear increase in area. It is the more logical category to examine when extra space is essential, whereas changing from a twin to a double may primarily answer a bedding preference. None of those size labels proves a particular bathroom was recently renovated.
A returning guest liked the updates
A January 2025 Superior Twin guest who had stayed years earlier found the room clean and appreciated apparent renovation work. That visitor particularly enjoyed having a bathtub. The account supports a positive experience in that room; it does not establish that every room has a bath or that Laithong is the only hotel in Ubon with one.
A February 2025 Superior Twin account likewise described an older-looking but clean room and helpful reception. The guest needed assistance understanding the room lighting and received a detailed explanation. That is a specific example of staff support, while also showing that an unfamiliar older room layout can require adjustment.
The bathroom evidence should remain balanced
A June 2026 Booking.com guest displayed through Agoda liked the room size and view but thought the bathroom needed renovation. That is a meaningful counterpoint to the earlier returning guest’s enthusiasm. The two reports should not be compressed into either a promise of complete renewal or a claim that all bathrooms are poor.
An October 2026 Superior Twin visitor again called it an older-style hotel, while praising cleanliness and staff. Travellers comfortable with established furnishings may find that combination acceptable. Someone whose priority is a uniformly modern bathroom has a stronger reason to examine the actual room and alternatives.
Breakfast accounts concern different stays
The February 2025 guest described an ordered breakfast rather than a buffet, with several Thai and Vietnamese-style dishes and additional portions available during that visit. The January guest deliberately ate elsewhere and did not evaluate breakfast. Those two accounts should not be blended into a claim that both confirmed the same meal service.
A Booking.com visitor in October 2025 liked the staff and location but missed tea- and coffee-making equipment in the room. That practical absence can matter more on an early departure than the size of the lobby. It is an individual report rather than proof that every current category has the same equipment.
Use it as an Ubon city base
The hotel’s current official social-link page identifies Laithong Hotel Ubon and links its website and contact channels. The stay belongs to the city side of the itinerary: Wat Phra That Nong Bua requires a separate local journey, and Phu Phrao is a longer excursion outside the city.
Laithong is a sensible shortlist candidate for a traveller who accepts traditional furnishings in exchange for room space and the staff assistance described by guests. The strongest reasons to reconsider are the mixed bathroom reports and any specific need for modern in-room equipment. Decide around those tangible details rather than assuming that either an old exterior or one renovated-room account describes the entire property.
